John H. Stratford Hospital
unused

"John H. Stratford, Esq., has offered to build a hospital in Brantford, at his own expense, at a cost of $12,000, and deed it to the city. This most liberal donation was thankfully accepted by the city council and the work of construction will be immediately commenced. It is to be called the 'Stratford' Hospital." (Canada Lancet, December 1883)

General Hospital
unused

"The John H. Stratford Hospital, a handsome structure standing on a plateau overlooking the city, with first-class accommodation for fifty patients, and where the physicians of the city give their services gratuitously to those unable to afford medical attendance, was donated to the city, together with the seven acres on which it stands, by the gentleman whose name it bears, at a cost of $25,000." (The City of Brantford, 1886)
